Promoting avalanche awareness should be a consideration for any company and organization that promotes and relies on mountainous backcountry recreation in winter. Avalanche related accidents tend to have a negative impact on all winter related businesses. Promoting an enhanced awareness of avalanche terrain, improving avalanche hazard assessment techniques, and providing effective lines of communication to the general public are worthy causes to support. The Northern Rockies Avalanche Safety Workshop (NRASW) exists for this purpose - to increase overall avalanche awareness so that we can all safely enjoy the winter backcountry.
